Diving and Snorkeling Munjack Cay

Saturday December 24 Christmas Eve!

Spent the day with Brendals Dive Center diving and snorkeling the incredible barrier reefs of the islands. The dive was a shallow dive about 30 feet, but lasted almost an hour. Saw all sorts of sea life including huge grouper that would cuddle up with you, big Tarpon. Had some neat swim throughs in the caverns. The coolest part of this trip was that the whole family was able to come out and snorkel while I went under. We had a very exciting moment as I was in the water near the back of the dive boat and a black tip reef shark went cruising by. With the divemaster nearby giving the OK sign I asked Lexie if she wanted to see it. My brave little adventurer said "OK", donned her mask and snorkel, and climbed down the ladder and into the water - we were both awestruck at seeing this amazing animal only 30 feet away as it cruised around. I was so proud of her for taking this step - and if the divemaster wasn't there would never have let her back in the water. He later said that they often cruise by and take little interest in divers - even if the divers are interested in them! Jillian has earned her nick name as 'Snorkel Queen' as she snorkeled all over on two different stops. No pictures on this trip but Santa was good to us and brought a digital camera with an underwater housing!
