Junkanoo at Green Turtle Cay by Grace

Well-before we left the Lahaies and Corishes at the Bita Bay House-we decided to continue the fun by a cruise on "Tide Pool" at 9am. That morn we set out on Abaco Sound which was like glass-not a breath of wind. It's amazing to see starfishes when the depth sounder reads 15'.

We were lucky to have 1 friendly dolphin greet us out there. Everyone sunning on the bow. Next we decided to cruise to Munjack to pay a visit to Bill and Leslie, who graciously let us use their bright yellow slide off their dock. Sue Lahaie, the boys and Lessing girls kayaked to the spot after mooring out. The rest of us enjoyed a pre-lunch cheddar and crackers. Then we motored back to Green Turtle Cay-to continue our adventure for the day.

Junkanoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Junkanoo is a celebration in the Bahamas which is a parade of children and the Bahamians dressed in colorful costumes, dancing, beating of rhythmic drums and feasting on the sidelines. We met up with the Lahaies, Corishes and the Anne Marie, Jay and Liz from PA on Belladona (49' Defever). We had a blast and with our own little steel drums-we joined the parade. It was an afternoon of ring pops, coconut ice cream, Kalik drinking and chix meal hunting( Peter Corish was on the look-out for the best tasting chicken for dinner that evening). Needless to say with all this activity-we ate our dinners at 4pm and were asleep at 7pm.
